Why you watch the show: I honestly first started watching it because I’ve always been a HUGE Steve Buscemi fan as well as a big Kelly Macdonald fan. I had recently finished watching Six Feet Under before Boardwalk had premiered, and I was just really happy about HBO shows, so I decided to give it a go. Now, as for why I continue to watch…well, there are a billion reasons. I honestly love all of the characters, find the time period interesting, find the stories compelling and surprisingly emotional, love the mix of historical and fictional characters, etc. It’s a brilliantly made show with fantastic actors, gorgeous cinematography, and so on. 

Favorite episode(s)?: I am quite partial to “Nights in Ballygran,” “Home,” “The Emerald City,” “What Does the Bee Do?,” “Gimcrack and Bunkum,” and “Under God’s Power She Flourishes,” but I really like all of the episodes. (Edit: HOLY SHIT, I forgot my actual favorite episode, hahaha. “Paris Green”!)

Favorite character(s)?: Well, Richard is obviously definitely my favorite, but I ADORE Meyer Lansky and Van Alden. That’s a very solid top three for me. I also really like Chalky, Rothstein, Nucky, Margaret, Angela, and Manny Horvitz. I should probably stop before I just name everybody. 

Which gang/group you root for (if any) and why: I kind of love all of the New York guys. I mean, I dig AC and Chicago and all, but I have to go with Team NY.

Opinion on how season 2 panned out: Overall I really liked it. It’s not without its faults, but I loved it. I think that there was too much focus on just a small handful of characters by the middle of the season, though. It eventually became all about Jimmy, Nucky, and Margaret…like, constantly, and while I love those characters (seriously, don’t get me wrong), I felt like a lot of amazing characters were slighted because of this immense focus on just a few of the main characters. Richard was shoved off to the side after episode 5, we hardly saw the NY boys, Angela didn’t get to do much, Chalky was hardly there, etc. It was a little disappointing. Honestly, though, overall I feel good about season two. 

What do you want to happen in season 3/onward?: I just want there to be more focus on the ensemble cast as a whole (like in season one). I don’t want the focus to be so concentrated like it was in season two. I want to see more of Chicago and more of New York, I want to see more of Chalky, and I really want to see Richard doing something. It’d be cool if he went to Chicago or something. I would love to see him there and have Van Alden tied in somehow. I also really want Margaret to be in a better place. I love her character, but I’m so relieved that the religious arc is supposedly over. It was grating on me. I’m really, really excited and hopeful about season three! I never want this show to end!

random fact about you (doesn’t have to be BE related): Hmm… I haven’t really blogged about it at all here, but I watch a TON of movies and that’s one of my main interests. I guess I’ve just been more focused on TV lately. Anyway, my favorite movie is Vertigo.
